To our Post 800 family, I would like to make you aware of the following:
The NYS governor issued an order on Friday, December 10, 2021 that affects us and everyone who enters our building. We had to choose between requiring proof of full vaccination from everyone entering the premises OR requiring that everyone wears a mask indoors regardless of vaccination status. There was NO "in-between" choice such as requiring unvaccinated people to wear masks and allowing vaccinated people to go without masks.
After careful consideration, the BOD agreed that the mask mandate would be easier for us to manage and better for our customers. If we had gone the other route, some of our members who have chosen not to be vaccinated would not have been allowed in the building with or without a  mask.
So, beginning today, everyone who enters our building, including staff and patrons, will be required to wear a mask covering nose and mouth and to maintain that face covering whenever they are not seated at the bar or at a table. This is really no different from the arrangements we had previously before the rules were relaxed to allow fully vaccinated people to go without masks.
Please understand that this is a NYS mandate and not a rule that the Legion has created. However, we are compelled by law to comply and we ask for everyone's cooperation in protecting us from potential fines of up to $1,000 for non-compliance. Hopefully, with these additional precautions in place, the threat of COVID-19 and its variants will soon be behind us and we can then resume normal activities.
I have attached a copy of the signs that have been posted throughout the premises. If anyone has any questions about the situation, please feel free to contact me.
We thank you in advance for your full cooperation and participation.
