2026 BUILDING FUND RAFFLE
As we begin our eighth Building Fund Raffle, we can look back on what we were able to accomplish with proceeds from last year’s raffle. Our main project last year was the complete demolition and reconstruction of the front porch including all new floor joists and maintenance free, composite decking and steps with vinyl railings. These types of materials are certainly more expensive than pressure treated wood but they will never need more than a periodic pressure washing and will never need to be painted. This approach is consistent with our efforts to ensure the long term safety, viability and longevity of our building improvements and minimize future maintenance expenditures.
Even so, there are many more projects still awaiting adequate funding. With this year’s raffle, assuming that other higher priority projects do not become necessary, we would like to continue the kitchen renovations with new cabinets and countertop along the west wall, which is the side closest to the dining room. These would match the cabinets and countertop at our recently replaced kitchen island.
Only 200 tickets will be sold and prizes totaling $10,000 will be awarded on Saturday, August 22 at 3 PM at the Post. You could win $5,000, $2,000, $1000, $500 or $200 with a total of 10 chances to win. All ticket holders will be eligible for all drawings even if a prize has already been won.
To enter, print and complete the application form shown below and return it to the Groton American Legion along with your payment of $100. If you prefer, you can also purchase tickets at the post during normal business hours or call to have an application sent to you. All tickets are mailed to the purchasers after payment.
